I missed the return of Scrubs! How did I manage that?! I had thought it restarted on the 6th, but on closer examination that's a Friday, so... no. Did anybody see last night's ep? I get so tired of downloading eps.
Friday, it turns out, is significant for another reason: the return of Battlestar Galactica. How will Cmdr. Adama defeat Admiral McCrazypants? Will Baltar finally snap and tell everybody about his Cylon girlfriend? Will we get to hear more about the [actually quite fascinating] different takes on religion between Cylons and humans? Who can say!
As if Friday weren't already geeky enough, I discovered today in scrolling through the cable guide (ah, digital, so lovely) that SciFi appears to be showing the entire televised run of Firefly, starting at 8a/7c. Can I get up early enough to see it? It's hard to say, but I might try. What else am I going to do? Grad school apps, research work, translation work? I scoff at ye.
On an altogether different note, Shane just popped in and handed me a tin of Zingos, which we had talked about back before Christmas. He was just cleaning out a junk drawer and found them. For the unfamiliar, they, like Penguins, are caffeinated mints (while Penguins are still on the market, I think Brown & Haley has stopped making Zingos). Back in HS, I used to eat caffeinated mints like other people eat chips. Given the tin's stated equivalency of 6 mints ~ 1 cola beverage (in caffeine content), it's no wonder I had such a massive caffeine addiction in late HS/early college (I stopped eating the mints in college, but I simultaneously discovered coffee). Here's the thing, though: I never really tasted the mints, more than as a passing burn of mint on my tongue. I just tasted one, actually tasted it and sucked on it like I would for a regular mint... those things taste like shit. I'm intellectually aware that caffeine is bitter, but in most commonly consumed forms it's masked well enough that you don't really notice. Not so, here... it's like the mints have gone rancid somehow. I think I'll keep these around in case I need a caffeine boost at some point, but I don't see myself just snackin' away on them.
